GORILLA TREK SAFARI

About

Authentic encounters, Iconic Destination, Unforgettable experiences.

Tucked in between the iconic safari destinations of Kenya and Tanzania, Nuru offers guests some of the best primate tracking on the planet – set against the backdrop of its endless green hills and soaring mountainsides.

With over half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population, it’s no surprise that the majority of guests visit Rwanda to track and view this highly endangered species. Rwanda is superb for primates in general, including the fun-loving Sykes monkey, the Golden monkey and the boisterous chimpanzee in the Nyungwe Forest.

Despite a turbulent past, Rwanda is a safe and friendly destination testament to the resilience of its people. This is peerless, and possibly the most poignant experience on earth. Mountain gorillas’ lives in montane forest of Uganda, Rwanda and Congo as well as West and Central Africa.

There is a about 1000 mountain gorillas remaining on Earth, in fact the only mammal species whose population is increasing; thanks to concerted conservation efforts and sustainable tourism in the regions. About half of the population live in the montane forests of the Virunga mountains, a volcanic chain that covers Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The tracking experience is just as exciting as the actual gorilla viewing, you might see other species of monkeys, rare birds and tropical flowers along the way.

For guests seeking a deeply enriching safari, Nuru offers an experience that is difficult to find anywhere else with iconic destinations combined with unforgettable personalised experiences.
